It is found in the Usumburu Mountains of northem Tanzania. Tanzanite occurs in gray, brown, violet, blue, reddish-purple, & green. It is interesting because of the exceptional pleochroism. Rotated, a tanzanite will exhibit multiple changes of color. Tanzanite has a low tolerance to ultrasonic cleaning, do not use this cleaning method.
